Past President, Phil Obregon, will produce our own “Show and Tell”   event.  He will coordinate, among our membership, people who have accessible equipment that members are finding assist them in learning to cope with visual impairment.  There will be a variety of items to help you become master of any room in your house, and much more.

The annual Holiday Dinner and Entertainment program will be highlighted, once again, by the Citrus College Women’s Chorale!

Christmas dinner will be held at the LaFetra Senior Center
in Glendora on Monday, December 8 beginning at 6:30.
                         Cost is $15.

January 12, 2009
Dr. George Takeda, a well-respected Glendora Ophthalmologist, will speak to the effects and research of common eye diseases like Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy.  He will attempt to clear up some of the  questions we have about Wet and Dry macular degeneration and will leave us time to ask questions pertinent to our individual circumstances.

February 9, 2009
Phil Obregon will treat us to a second round of accessible equipment materials.  This will give the members access to equipment that wasn’t available in November or that we didn’t have room to display.  There is an amazing array of devices out there to assist the visually impaired and this is your opportunity to have a hands-on experience with them.  Since all of the demonstrators are users of these items, they will be able to answer all of your questions regarding their use and convenience.

March 9, 2009
                 Erin Go Braugh!
Come celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a wonderful dinner presented by the EYE-DAS Foundation Board of Directors. The meal is always wonderful and there is no cost to the members! Last year we had bagpipe music after dinner. Who knows what will happen this time! Perhaps we can get the bagpipers to visit us, again.

April 13, 2009
Terri Howell of the California Telephone Access Program, will explain how EYE-DAS members can receive telephones adapted for the blind and visually impaired, at no cost! CTAP is a California State program created to benefit the disabled residents of California. Terri says that she has several new pieces of equipment specifically designed for the blind and visually impaired. Some are equipped for the hearing impaired, as well. Don’t miss the opportunity to inspect these new phones and to ask questions.

May 11, 2009
Speakers and topics will be announced soon

June 8, 2009
All members are invited to join the Glendora chapter for the annual Potluck and Bingo evening. Bring your favorite dish, enjoy the creative dishes of other members and win fun little prizes during the Bingo segment of this evening. Have a great summer!
